Crafting motion systems that enhance usability and interaction
Expertise
UX motion design is the difference between a product that works and a product that feels right. I use motion intentionally to guide users, clarify interactions, and create seamless transitions that make complex experiences intuitive.
My expertise goes beyond aesthetics. I design motion to drive engagement through thoughtful micro-interactions, reinforce key moments that encourage action, and create a sense of flow that keeps users moving forward with confidence.
When done right, UX Motion design becomes a storytelling tool—building trust, shaping perception, and elevating the overall experience from functional to memorable.
Approach
UI motion isn’t just visual polish, it’s a core part of how products communicate. I use motion intentionally to guide attention, reinforce hierarchy, provide feedback, and create seamless interactions that feel intuitive rather than distracting. By treating motion as part of the UX system, not an afterthought, I design experiences that feel more responsive, understandable, and engaging for users.
My approach consists of utilizing the are three fundamental principles I focus on to make sure my animations truly enhance the user experience:
1. Purpose (Functionality)
Questions I ask myself:
→ Does this animation have a specific goal?
Purposeful motion should:
→ Guide the user's attention (e.g., highlighting a call to action)
→ Provide feedback (e.g., a loading spinner, successful submission)
→ Clarify relationships between elements (e.g., items expanding from a menu)
2. Fluidity (Naturalness)
Motion in UX should feel organic:
→ Avoid robotic, linear movement that disrupts the user's flow.
Techniques for fluidity:
→ Easing: Use easing functions (ease-in, ease-out) to create a sense of acceleration/deceleration.
→ Choreography: Choreograph how multiple elements move in relation to each other.
→ Physics: Consider incorporating a touch of real-world physics for a familiar feeling.
3. Personality (Brand Alignment)
Motion expresses brand voice:
→ Is it playful, serious, or sophisticated?
→ Align with existing brand language: Consider colors, fonts, and overall tone.
→ Consistency is key: Maintain consistency across animations for a cohesive experience.
