Overview

What if betting didn’t live on a screen, but in your space?

I led a team of designers to reimagine the casino and sportsbook experience for spatial devices like Apple Vision Pro and emerging AR platforms. Leading product, motion, and AR design, I defined how betting could exist in three dimensions, grounded in the user’s physical environment.

We moved beyond flat UI and created an experience where live odds felt present, data responded to movement, and motion guided attention naturally without overwhelming the user.

The result is a spatial-first betting experience that blends utility with immersion, showing how products evolve when designed for an entirely new dimension of interaction.

Problem

Sportsbook and casino experiences were designed for flat screens, relying on tabs, modals, and dense layers of information. In spatial computing, those patterns break.

The challenge wasn’t resizing UI for devices like Apple Vision Pro, it was rethinking how betting should exist and operate in three dimensions. Live odds, stats, and bets needed to feel naturally integrated into a user’s physical space, while attention had to be guided without overwhelming the field of view. Motion also had to take on a new role, communicating hierarchy and urgency in an environment without traditional constraints.

How might we design live odds, stats, and bets to exist naturally within a user’s physical space?
How might we guide attention without overwhelming the field of view?
How might we use motion to signal hierarchy and urgency in an entirely new environment?

Without a new interaction model, the experience risked feeling like a floating 2D screen. The opportunity was to create a spatial-native sportsbook and casino experience that feels immersive, intuitive, and built for the future of AR.

Solution

I led the team in designing an experience built for space, not simply placed within it.

Instead of relying on flat navigation patterns, we introduced spatial zones that anchored live odds, bet slips, and stats directly into the user’s environment. Information was layered in depth, allowing users to naturally focus, expand, or dismiss content through gaze and gesture.

Motion became the foundation of the experience. I designed a spatial motion system that guided attention, established hierarchy, and communicated real-time updates without overwhelming the field of view. Subtle depth shifts, responsive scaling, and contextual transitions made the data feel alive while staying controlled and readable.

The result was a spatial-native betting experience that feels immersive and intuitive, showing how traditional products can evolve when designed for an entirely new dimension.

Design Decisions

Designing for spatial meant moving beyond traditional flat UI patterns and embracing depth, presence, and context. Grounded in visionOS guidelines, I focused on making the sportsbook feel native to the environment rather than a 2D interface placed in 3D space.

I used depth and scale to establish hierarchy, bringing primary betting actions within comfortable reach while allowing live odds and supporting data to exist in surrounding layers. Careful use of translucency, spatial positioning, and subtle motion helped guide attention naturally without overwhelming the user.

The result is a spatial-first interface that feels immersive and intuitive, designed specifically for how people interact within AR environments.

Research Objectives

To explore the desirability of integrating Apple Vision Pro glasses as rewards for Casino/Sportsbook customers, focusing on their initial feedback on concepts, engagement, and visualization preferences with casino games and Sportsbook. Our initial concept testing involved an unmoderated testing 5 users per product.

FINDING 1

Users are interested in the prospect of placing live bets and parlays while watching the game.

FINDING 2

Users feel that they are immersed in the experience.

FINDING 3

Really vibrant and fun, makes users want to go on FanDuel immediately.

What began as an exploration into spatial betting became a clear vision for the future. By reimagining the experience for devices like Apple Vision Pro, we showed how immersive design can extend the brand beyond the screen and unlock new interaction models. The concept gained immediate traction and won the internal hackathon, positioning the team at the forefront of spatial product thinking.
