Casino Jackpots (FanDuel)
Overview
Jackpots are inherently exciting, but often feel disconnected from the core gameplay experience. This project was an opportunity to bring that energy front and center and make it a visible, integral part of every bet.
As Lead Product and Motion Designer, I led the vision for a fully integrated progressive jackpot within FanDuel Casino, allowing players to seamlessly opt in during gameplay and contribute toward escalating jackpots. Through intentional product design and expressive motion, I transformed the feature into a dynamic, always-building system that heightens anticipation, increases participation, and amplifies the thrill of every wager.
Problem
Progressive jackpots are inherently exciting—but in practice, they often feel disconnected from gameplay. Hidden in menus or treated as optional add-ons, they fail to fully capture attention or communicate their growing value.
The challenge was clear:
- How might we seamlessly integrate a progressive jackpot into live slot and table gameplay without disrupting the core experience?
- How might we make the opt-in feel intuitive and low-friction, while clearly communicating contribution mechanics and escalating prize tiers (Mini, Minor, Major, Mega)?
- How might we visually convey momentum and rising stakes so the jackpot feels alive—constantly building anticipation?
Solution
I designed a fully integrated progressive jackpot system embedded directly into gameplay, making participation seamless, visible, and exciting. Players could opt in without breaking flow, with each wager clearly contributing to a growing prize.
Real-time updates, tiered hierarchy, and escalating motion made the jackpots feel alive and constantly building, turning a passive feature into a visible excitement engine woven into every bet.
Design & Animation Decisions
I designed the jackpot to feel alive, constantly building toward something bigger. A dynamic motion system visually progressed through each tier, with increasing energy, speed, and visual weight as players moved upward.
The motion served as feedback, signaling growth, momentum, and proximity to larger wins, turning progression into something players could see and feel in real time.

Marketing & Brand Recognition
The motion extended beyond the product and became the face of the feature.
At launch, the animations were used in commercial campaigns to promote the progressive jackpot, evolving from in-game feedback into a recognizable visual language across marketing. This created a consistent experience between gameplay and advertising, turning the feature into a branded excitement engine players could instantly recognize on and off the platform.
What began as a seamlessly integrated progressive jackpot feature quickly evolved into a high-performing growth engine within FanDuel Casino. By embedding opt-in participation directly into slot and table gameplay, the feature turned everyday bets into high-stakes moments, giving players a constant sense of opportunity with every wager. The response was tremendous: 1,500 winners per day fueling daily excitement $2B in jackpot wagers placed $400M in jackpot payouts reinforcing perceived generosity 60,000 active users per day engaging with the feature The result: a feature designed to heighten anticipation at the product level, delivering measurable engagement and revenue impact at scale.
