Sneak peek into the project

Project
ASCO Booth Design
Project Scope
Our team was tasked by Exelixis to create an immersive experience showcased via a PufferFish Interactive Display for an upcoming convention (ASCO 2022).
Our goal was to create an immersive experience that "wowed" guests at the convention and compelled users to interact with the clients booth to learn more about the clinical trials and studies conducted around the globe.
This was my first project that I got to both take the lead on as well as responsible for creating all animations, UI and interactivity for the project.
Challenges
With our interface for this experience design being a sphere and not the typical web, tablet or mobile interfaces our team would ordinarily work with presented some challenges. Another challenge was that with the dev team being located in the UK and our creative team scattered across the states, we were not able to allocate a "test" sphere to iterate our ideas on before asset hand off.
Solution
To solve for this issue and reduce trial and error as much as possible, I came up with the idea of converting the dimensions of the PufferFish interface into a 3D model and that allowed the team to then test their iterations to determine sizing, placement and a feel for how their iterations could look.
I also took the lead and setup meetings with the dev team that would work best with their hours of work. More late nights on my end but well worth it for the final results.

3D Designed Assets
I created 3D models for this client previously so I was able to reuse the components created for the experience.
Mock Tests
The team ran into some problems with warping on early tests of spheres. We needed to figure out a way to solve for this issue in order to make the most of the interface.
I solved this for problem for our team by breaking the composition up into 1/3's. A few headaches to get perfected but once I figured this out we were smooth sailing for final handoff.
In Action
Thanks to our tests and a few iterations, we were able to create an amazing experience.
Results
Our client let us know that visitors at their booth during the convention LOVED the display and the interactivity was loved by all and there was an allure that made it a stand out feature.
